Humanitarian Aid

 

Dr Gillies' humanitarian interest commenced with a trip to Tanzania whilst a medical student. He went on to join MSF,  and has most recently worked in Haiti as a surgeon at the Hopital Universitaire de Mirebalais. He is currently part of the Lancet Global Commission on Surgery, the findings of which will be published in early May 2015.

Rowan first worked as a doctor for MSF in 1998. In 2002 he was the President of MSF Australia, and was elected as President of the MSF International Council in 2004. He spent 3 years based in Geneva for this role.
